Baby photoshoot Walthamstow

Sometimes I get mums reaching out to me to ask "can I still have a newborn photo session with my two month old baby?". And my honest answer? Absolutely! In this post I'm going to tell you why it's never too late to have a photo session done with your new baby.

You may have been told (or read somewhere) that newborn sessions must happen in the first two weeks of life. And while that window can be ideal for those sleepy, curled-up poses, it doesn’t mean beautiful, meaningful photos can’t happen after that.

Let’s be real: birth is unpredictable. Not every mum feels ready in those early days, and sometimes health or recovery take priority - as they should. So if things didn’t go to plan, or you simply weren’t up for it earlier, please know: you haven’t missed your chance.

Babies are still very much newborns at 3, 4, 6 weeks old - and I photograph them at all of those ages.

Here’s what to expect:

  • In the first two weeks, babies are often sleepier so you can get those "curled up" photos.
  • After two weeks babies tend to be more alert - you might get more eye contact and little expressions, which can be just as lovely.
  • Around 6 weeks babies can go through a growth spurt, so they might feed more and be a bit fussier - but with a calm, baby-led approach, we can still get gorgeous, heartfelt images.

So if your baby is “older” than two weeks and you're worried it's too late, I promise - it's not.

There is no deadline for documenting love.

Working with Alina was a true delight from the moment we first got in touch. Her warm energy, reassuring tone of voice, and pure excitement towards the vision for my maternity photo shoot were exactly what I needed to feel comfortable and confident day of. It was just the best day and the photos that came out of the experience went beyond our expectations. They are heartwarming, unique, and timeless. We loved them so much that we knew we had to book her again for our newborn photo shoot and honestly, I just can’t wait to book her again because these photos capture who we are as a family to the core and I am so grateful that Alina’s pure talent produced such incredible photos that we will cherish forever.
