There is absolutely nothing more special than those first moments spent with your new bundle of joy. The love, happiness, exhaustion, sleep deprivation and sheer disbelief that you have just had a baby. Nobody forgets what it’s like to have a newborn baby (because all of these emotions are so intense), but with time we forget the details we thought we would never forget. How small the baby was in your arms. The funny face he or she would make during those first days. Or how his or her little feet would curl up. These moments are fleeting and it’s important we capture them so we can remember them in the future.

My newborn session takes a couple of hours spent with you and your newborn at the comfort of your home. There is no need to travel to a studio or a different location – you have just had a baby and I want you to feel relaxed and comfortable in the familiar surroundings of your own home. This kind of shoot is best done within the first two weeks of baby’s life as it’s when babies still retain the ‘curled up’ look and are generally very sleepy. A newborn session focuses not only on your beautiful baby, but also on your current routines, as you and your family adjust to this new chapter in your lives. I try to document your activities, your space, you interacting with the baby (feeding, changing the nappy, bathing – whatever you need to do during our session) and all the details that may seem insignificant, but will be important for you to remember in the years to come.
