Frequently Asked Questions

When should we have a newborn session?

I aim to schedule a newborn session in the first two weeks after the baby’s birth for full term babies without any health complications. During this time babies still display their newborn features and are very sleepy, which makes it easier to capture some candid moments, especially if you also have other young children that you want to include in the session.

When should I have my maternity session?

The ideal time to photograph your pregnant belly is around 32-36 weeks. I like to allow several weeks before your due date so your bump is nice and round, but you aren’t too uncomfortable yet!

What should we wear to our session?

The most important thing is that the clothes are comfortable and make you feel good. Family members don’t have to all match – I advise against identical outfits for children, same colours on all family members – but try to make sure that the outfits complement each other with colour tones and style. I wrote a blog post with ideas on what best to wear to a session.

We feel uncomfortable in front of the camera. What can we do?

Please do not worry! My goals are to make you feel relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera and to make sure you enjoy the whole experience. All you need to do is be yourselves and almost forget that I am there taking pictures!

I want to have a photo session but my husband is not convinced...

I hear this a lot from women who don't know how to persuade their husbands to have a photo session. All you have to tell them is to focus on the kids, their partners and almost forget that I am there. I always get lovely feedback from my clients afterwards, saying that the husbands actually really enjoyed our session together, despite being apprehensive about it beforehand!

Our house is too dark / cluttered / not decorated nicely for photos.

Your home is a big part of your story. It's your baby's first home! The photos taken at your home serve as a time capsule for this baby (and your whole family) and will provide this lovely sense of nostalgia in the years to come. Please don't worry about it not being perfect - perfection is overrated anyway! I know how to take photos in tight spaces, dark rooms and "hide" any unwanted clutter with my camera - trust me on this.

When will we receive the photos?

Depending on the amount of photos, the delivery time varies from 2-3 weeks for a 2 hour session. You will receive an email with the login details to your password-protected gallery in my client area where you can view the photos and you can then decide which package you would like to go for.

Can I order prints through you?

Yes you can! Your personal online gallery is linked to a print store and over there you can choose which photos from your session you would like to print. There are various options of prints, frames, canvas etc. By using the online store you don't have to upload your photos anywhere else to get your photos printed - it's all linked for your convenience.

“My husband and I always shy away from cameras as not keen on having our photos taken, however Alina made us relaxed and she captured tender moments without us having to pose for hours.”
