When Allison told me she wanted for her pregnancy photoshoot to take place in a forest, I immediately knew this shoot was going to be special and unique. Her and her husband eloped and got married in a forest abroad and they felt it would not only serve as the perfect backdrop for their maternity photos, but also play an important witness of this new stage of their relationship. It was therefore pretty obvious we would choose
Epping Forest as the location of this shoot, as it's sprawls through East London and provides multiple of beautiful little spaces.
I love how much thought and intention went into this shoot, and how the woods provided continuity from their wedding ceremony to anticipation of their baby. Allison was keen on documenting her transition from maiden to mother (a period called "matrescence"), and she incorporated two outfits to portray this change. Exploring Epping Forest with these two and capturing their love for each was such a joy and privilege.
We absolutely adore these photos and couldn't be happier with how they turned out. You captured our love for each other and this baby so sweetly and effortlessly. And wow, the forest is just a beaming backdrop in every photo, you absolutely smashed it! On a personal note, I am so grateful you understood and embraced my desire to move from maiden to mother with my two outfits.
